(VIDEO) Beşiktaş Start the Turkish Süper Lig on the Right Foot After Beating Eyüpspor at Home
The Black Eagles made a strong home debut on Matchday 1 of the 2026-27 season. Here are all the details.
BEŞİKTAŞ defeated EYÜPSPOR 1-0 on Sunday in their 2026-27 Turkish Süper Lig opener, thanks to a stunning goal from Czech forward Václav Černý.
The match was a true spectacle at Tüpraş Stadium in Istanbul, where Belgian star Leandro Trossard made his Süper Lig debut, while fans bid farewell to Necip Uysal, a legendary Black Eagles player.
The visitors finished the match with 10 men after Portuguese defender David Costa was sent off in the 68th minute.
Černý Delivers as Beşiktaş Find the Net
The team managed by Vincenzo Italiano took control from the opening minutes and were rewarded in the 25th minute. Junior Olaitan played an excellent ball behind the defense, and Václav Černý arrived to finish first-time and give Beşiktaş a 1-0 lead.
The goal confirmed the Czech winger’s strong run of form, as he once again played a decisive role after contributing to Beşiktaş’s wins in the Europa League qualifiers. The Turkish side had won their previous four European matches without conceding, and the victory over Eyüpspor extended their positive start to the campaign.
Beşiktaş had chances to double their advantage. Černý came close to scoring again when his free kick struck the post, but the hosts’ lack of finishing precision kept the visitors in the game.
Eyüpspor Hold On but Finish with 10 Men
Eyüpspor tried to respond in the second half but struggled to create clear-cut chances against a Beşiktaş side that controlled the tempo. Their task became even more difficult in the 68th minute, when David Costa received a second yellow card and was sent off.
With a numerical advantage, Beşiktaş managed the final stages and avoided taking unnecessary risks. The 1-0 scoreline was enough to secure an important victory in their league opener.
The result becomes even more valuable considering that Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor also dropped points on Matchday 1, allowing Beşiktaş to begin the 2026-27 Süper Lig season with three points.
Černý provided the goal, Italiano secured his first league victory, and Beşiktaş opened the season on a positive note: three points and another clean sheet.
