Lautaro Martínez Breaks Into Inter History Through Goals
Every goal brings him closer to the club’s immortals. On a dominant night for Inter, their captain once again delivered a moment that strengthens his growing legacy.
A Captain Who Never Slows Down
Inter delivered a commanding win over Sassuolo, but beyond the scoreline, one figure once again stole the spotlight. Lautaro Martínez found the net and took another significant step into the club’s history, reaffirming his role as the Nerazzurri’s attacking leader.
With that goal, the Argentine striker reached 171 goals in all competitions for Inter, moving into a tie for third place on the club’s all-time scoring list. A milestone that places him alongside legendary names and cements his status among the greats of the Milanese club.
Only Two Legends Ahead
At this point, only two iconic figures remain above Lautaro in Inter’s scoring hierarchy. Alessandro Altobelli, with 209 goals, and Giuseppe Meazza, the club’s all-time leading scorer with 284, still sit at the top of the list.
Meazza’s legacy is so deeply tied to the club that his name lives on through the stadium where Inter plays its home matches, globally known as San Siro. It is on that same stage where Lautaro has steadily built his own place in history.
A Journey That Began in 2018
Lautaro Martínez arrived at Inter in 2018 from Racing Club, and since then, his rise has been defined by consistency and impact. The forward has already made 368 appearances across all competitions, becoming a cornerstone of the club’s modern era.
Beyond domestic competition, Lautaro is also Inter’s all-time top scorer in the Champions League and the club’s most prolific foreign goal scorer, further underlining his importance both in Italy and on the European stage.
A Permanent Place Among Argentina’s Elite
On the continental level, Lautaro has also carved out a notable chapter. In November, he equaled Hernán Crespo’s tally of 25 Champions League goals, placing him as the third-highest Argentine scorer in the history of the competition. Only Sergio Agüero and Lionel Messi remain ahead.
Through goals, leadership, and unwavering consistency, Lautaro Martínez is no longer just Inter’s captain. He is a historical figure whose legacy continues to grow with every match.
