Liverpool Recover Their Record Signing as Alexander Isak Returns to Training
Big news for Liverpool fans. Alexander Isak is finally back in training after missing four games through injury — and he could return just in time for the clash with Manchester City.
The Record Signing Is Back
Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s most expensive signing ever, is finally back on the pitch. The Swedish striker returned to group training this Friday after missing the last four matches due to a groin injury.
Signed this summer from Newcastle United for around €150 million, Isak had already faced a complicated start to life at Anfield. His disrupted preseason, caused by forcing an exit from Newcastle, left him behind in fitness. Just when he was reaching peak condition, the groin issue struck — keeping him sidelined for several weeks.
Arne Slot Confirms His Return
Head coach Arne Slot confirmed the good news in Friday’s press conference:
“He’s going to train today for the first time after three weeks out,” Slot said. “Three weeks ago I mentioned his preseason was over, but if you spend three weeks in rehab, you’re obviously not at the same level. Our staff has done an incredible job, but it’s not the same as match training. We’ll need to give him some time.”
The Dutch manager remains cautious, yet optimistic about reintroducing Isak to competition in the coming days.
Eyes on Manchester City
Liverpool now prepare for one of their toughest tests of the season — a Premier League showdown against Manchester City this Sunday at the Etihad Stadium. The return of Isak could provide a major attacking boost, adding depth and firepower to Slot’s squad.
After weeks of rehabilitation and patience, the Swedish striker is back in contention. And while he may not start, fans are eager to see him back in red — just in time for the biggest stage.
