Leeds United might be on the brink of securing their Premier League status for another season, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin is not getting ahead of himself, insisting "our job is not done".

Leeds moved up to 14th in the top-flight after a 3-1 win over Burnley and now have a nine-point cushion over the relegation zone.

Anton Stach got Leeds off to a strong start, scoring within eight minutes, but it was a quickfire second-half double from Noah Okafor and Calvert-Lewin that made sure of all three points.

Loum Tchaouna pulled one back for Burnley, moments after Lucas Pires was denied by the offside flag, but Leeds never looked in danger of giving up their lead as they stretched their unbeaten streak to six league games.

They are now onto 43 points for the season (W10 D13 L12) – a tally no team has ever been relegated with in a 38-game Premier League campaign, and Leeds could confirm their top-flight place next time out if they beat 18th-place Tottenham.

Calvert-Lewin has scored seven Premier League goals at Elland Road this season – and 13 overall – but when asked if he was thinking about his chances for a World Cup spot, the striker admitted he was not looking past the end of the domestic season.

"I'll be honest, it [the World Cup] is not something I look to," he told Sky Sports.

"Most of my focus has been making sure we stay in the Premier League. That was objective number one, and until that is mathematically done, our job is not done, and my job is not done.

"A byproduct of doing well for your club is getting closer to the national team, so I can just keep scoring goals and putting in performances, and the rest takes care of itself."

Daniel Farke was of a similar mind, saying: "The three points are massive for us. I'm really proud of my boys for delivering in a crunch time period.

"The job is not done yet. We will celebrate properly when it's mathematically done. But 43 points is good."

As for Burnley, their relegation to the Championship had already been confirmed, but it has been a tumultuous week following the departure of Scott Parker.

The Clarets fell to their 23rd defeat of the Premier League season, only the fourth time they have lost that often in a league campaign, after 1975-76 (23), 2009-10 (24), and 2023-24 (24).

Burnley have also conceded 10 goals in the opening 10 minutes of league games this season – only Crystal Palace (in 2020-21) have ever shipped more in that period in a single campaign in the competition (11).

"We started very bad," Maxime Esteve told Sky Sports. "And the same for the start of the second half, after we had some momentum.

"It was like the same against Nottingham Forest, when we concede some momentum, every team kills us, and we concede. And it's difficult to come back in the game.

"We have responsibility of everything. I have no problem with that. When you have 20 points, that's part of confidence.

"We have three games left. We try to give everything for us, to be proud of us. I know we're not proud of us because of the season, but we are also competitors."
