Jack Grealish could miss rest of season and World Cup due to injury
Jack Grealish faces a stress fracture in his foot that could end his season and put his World Cup hopes in jeopardy.
Serious setback for Grealish
Jack Grealish is facing a major setback at Everton after suffering a stress fracture in his foot. The injury could require surgery, potentially ruling him out for the rest of the Premier League season and putting his World Cup chances at risk.
This season, Grealish joined Everton on loan from Manchester City in search of regular minutes. He has featured in 22 games, scoring two goals and providing six assists for the 'Toffees'.
David Moyes addresses the situation
Speaking to the press, David Moyes, Everton manager, offered an update:
"We believe Jack will probably need surgery. It's not fully confirmed, but it's likely he won't play for the rest of the season."
The injury is a blow both for the club and the player, who had hoped to secure consistent playing time to maintain his place in the England squad.
World Cup participation in doubt
Grealish was overlooked by Gareth Southgate for the last Euro, but had regained his role under Thomas Tuchel, starting three of the last matches he was called up for.
Now, with this injury, his World Cup hopes are in serious jeopardy. The stress fracture could rule him out of contention for Tuchel’s squad, leaving his place with England uncertain.
A challenging road ahead
Beyond missing key matches for Everton, the injury presents a major challenge for Grealish in terms of recovery and match fitness. His rehabilitation and potential surgery will determine whether he can return in time for England or if he will need to wait for future competitions to regain full form.
