Evanilson scored for the fifth Premier League game in a row as Bournemouth's winning run in the top flight extended to four matches with a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town.
Ipswich Town 1-2 Bournemouth: Evanilson scores again to extend winning run
Evanilson scored his fifth consecutive Premier League goal as Bournemouth overcame Ipswich Town and former boss Gary O'Neil.
The in-form Bournemouth striker profited from an error by Christian Walton to give the Cherries a fifth-minute lead before Leif Davis turned into his own net in the second half.
Jack Clarke's 73rd-minute penalty threatened a nervy finish at Portman Road, but Gary O'Neil was unable to get one over his former side on Sunday.
Bournemouth made the perfect start when Evanilson punished Walton's hesitancy on the ball inside his own area, stealing possession before rolling into an empty net.
The Cherries almost doubled their lead moments later with Rayan making a bursting run down the right before squaring it for Marcus Tavernier at the back post, but the midfielder saw his effort thwarted superbly by the feet of Walton.
Ryan Christie then headed Tavernier's right-wing corner wide of the left-hand post as Bournemouth pushed for a second, which they eventually got after the break.
Marco Rose's men made a rapid start to the second half as Davis inadvertently diverted Christie's strike into his own net within 27 seconds of the restart.
James Hill should have added a third for the away side, but he failed to keep his close-range header down after Evanilson lifted a cross to the back post.
However, it was Ipswich who grabbed the next goal as Clarke tucked away his penalty into the bottom-right corner after Lewis Cook fouled Abdoul Ouattara. Julio Enciso thought he had dragged his team level late on, only to see his free-kick fizz past the upright.
Bournemouth go eight for eight ahead of the international break
Ahead of kick-off at Portman Road, Bournemouth arrived in impressive form, having recorded seven straight wins across all competitions, but they have now put together eight wins in a row for the third time in the club's history (also January 1999 and in April 2013).
Their victory was built on Evanilson's early strike, which came four minutes and 14 seconds, the fastest Bournemouth have found the back of the net in the Premier League this season. The Brazilian now has the joint-most goal involvements in the competition this season (five goals, four assists), level with Erling Haaland (nine goals).
Bournemouth have won four consecutive Premier League games, equalling their longest winning streak in the competition (also four wins between May and August 2018 and December 2023).
Moreover, Rose's side have now scored in nine of their 10 games, with no team having done so more often in the Premier League this season. Bournemouth were unfortunate not to score more on Sunday, as they mustered an expected goals (xG) of 2.12 from 15 shots.
Meanwhile, for former Bournemouth boss O'Neil, it was a day to forget as his Ipswich side have now failed to win in their last four Premier League games. More worryingly, the Tractor Boys have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 29 Premier League games, the longest ongoing such run in the competition.
