Sebastian Giovinco has been named Major League Soccer 's Most Valuable Player for the 2015 season.

Giovinco, 28, has already claimed the Newcomer of the Year and Golden Boot awards. The Toronto FC star had the most prolific individual season in MLS history, scoring 22 goals and adding 16 assists in 33 games, while also leading his team to its first playoff appearance. His combined goals and assist total of 38 broke Chris Wondolowski's previous record of 34 set in 2012, and he also led the league in shots, shots on goal and game-winning goals.

Giovinco is also a finalist for the league's Goal of the Year, with his mazy run versus the New York Red Bulls on Oct. 14 up against a similar strike by Sporting KC's Krisztian Nemeth. TFC's star striker also has several weekly and monthly MLS accolades to his name.

Seeking more playing time and a change of scenery after sitting on the bench at Juventus, Giovinco caused a stir when he decided to sign with TFC in January. His strong campaign in Toronto has led to his recall to the Italian national side, and he's been linked with a move to Barcelona.
