Shocking Revelation! Lionel Messi Reveals If He’ll Play the 2026 World Cup With Argentina
Lionel Messi broke his silence about his international future, revealing whether he’ll play the 2026 World Cup with Argentina.
Messi Keeps the Door Open
Lionel Messi has stunned fans with his latest comments about the 2026 World Cup. Speaking with NBC, the Inter Miami captain admitted that while his desire to represent Argentina remains strong, his final decision will depend on how he feels physically at the start of next year.
“The truth is yes—it’s something extraordinary to be at a World Cup. I’d like to be fit and play an important role for my national team,” said Messi, who recently renewed his Inter Miami contract until 2028.
The 38-year-old icon said he will evaluate his condition during preseason: “I’ll see if I can really be 100%, if I can help the team and the national side. Then I’ll decide.”
The Dream Lives On
Messi made it clear that the dream of defending the crown won in Qatar 2022 is still alive: “Obviously, I have all the desire because it’s a World Cup. Being able to defend that title again would be spectacular.”
If he fulfills his contract, Messi will be playing until age 41, but he insists he’s focused on the present: “I want to enjoy football, keep competing, and see how I feel when the moment arrives.”

Focused on the MLS
Messi remains in top form in the MLS, finishing as top scorer of the regular season with 29 goals in 28 matches. His next challenge: leading Inter Miami to their first-ever league title, with the final set for December 6.
For now, one thing is certain — Lionel Messi hasn’t closed the door on the 2026 World Cup. The dream of seeing him wear Argentina’s colors one last time is still very much alive.
