Germán Berterame Joins Inter Miami as a Statement MLS Signing
With a long-term contract and a starring role, Germán Berterame begins a new chapter in the MLS and explains why Inter Miami CF was the right move.
A signing that defines the window
Inter Miami CF officially announced the signing of Mexican international forward Germán Berterame from CF Monterrey, in what stands out as the club’s most significant move of the transfer window.
Berterame arrives as a Designated Player, signing a contract through the 2028-29 MLS season, with an option to extend through 2029-30, underlining the club’s confidence in his long-term impact.
The project that made the difference
At just 27 years old, Berterame lands in Miami at the peak of his competitive years, following several standout seasons in Mexican football where he established himself as one of the league’s most consistent attackers.
“The project the club presented to me was decisive. It’s a fresh start for me and my family, and a huge motivation to be part of this team,” Berterame said in his first comments as an Inter Miami player.

Immediate commitment to the squad
While he awaits final visa clearance to officially begin training in the United States, Berterame wasted no time showing his commitment, making a short trip to Medellín to integrate with the group.
“I really wanted to be with the team as soon as possible and start getting to know my teammates and the staff. That’s why I made the trip to Medellín — I wanted to feel part of the group right away,” he explained.
A proven goal scorer at the highest level
Berterame joins the MLS after an outstanding spell with Monterrey, where he made 153 official appearances, scoring 68 goals and providing 15 assists across competitions including Liga MX, the FIFA Club World Cup, the Concacaf Champions Cup, and the Leagues Cup.
A product of San Lorenzo’s youth system, he made his professional debut at just 17 years old in the 2016 Copa Libertadores, later featuring for Patronato before breaking out with Atlético de San Luis, where he finished as the Apertura 2022 top scorer and earned his move to Rayados.
International presence and World Cup ambition
Born in Argentina and later naturalized as a Mexican citizen, Germán Berterame made his debut for the Mexico national team in 2024. He has since earned eight international caps, scoring two goals, and positioning himself as a strong option moving forward.
“I’m an intense player who never stops running, always looking to help the team and bring positive things on the pitch,” Berterame said when describing his style of play.
A bold move by Inter Miami
Berterame’s arrival further highlights the ambition of Inter Miami CF, the reigning MLS Cup champions, as the club continues to build a roster capable of sustaining its dominance domestically and beyond.
“Of course, playing alongside Leo is always special, but more than anything, it was the project and the level of the squad that convinced me to come,” Berterame concluded, already focused on the next challenge of his career in the MLS.
