The Special Football That Will Be Used in Le Classique of Ligue 1 Between PSG and Marseille
A new ball is going to capture the attention of fans in the upcoming Ligue 1 classics.
French football seeks to give a new dimension to its most intense classics. The LFP and Kipsta/Decathlon presented a collection of five exclusive balls for the major rivalries of Ligue 1 2026-27, and the first on the list could only be the country's most heated clash, OM-PSG at the Vélodrome. The ball, manufactured by Kipsta (the Decathlon brand), will not be just a decoration but will be used in both the first and second leg matches.
Design with identity and no public sales
The balls will maintain the usual Ligue 1 design, but will incorporate motifs related to the featured clubs. A way for the classic to feel different from the first touch. The complete collection includes five matches: OM-PSG, Lyon-OM, Lens-Lille, Monaco-Nice, and PSG-Paris FC. However, collectors shouldn't get their hopes up as these are special editions and won't be for sale. The only way to see them in action will be to sit and watch the games.
A bet by the LFP to elevate its classics
The move aims at something beyond the esthetic; marking the classics with a unique element is a way to generate anticipation. And if there's a match that deserves that treatment, it's OM-PSG.
