PSG To Loan Star Kang-in Lee For Asian Cup
Paris Saint-Germain will loan out one of its rising stars for the 2023 Asian Cup. South Korean forward Kang-in Lee, a key player for PSG, will join the South Korean national team for the tournament, which will take place from January 12 to February 12, 2024, putting his club-level performance on hold.
This morning, the South Korean national team, led by German coach Jürgen Klinsmann, announced the 26 players who will compete in the tournament held in Qatar. Alongside stars like Tottenham's Son Heung-min and Bayern Munich's Kim Min-jae, the 22-year-old PSG forward will be part of the squad aiming for its second title in history.
As a result, Luis Enrique will not have the attacking midfielder for PSG's first game in 2024, facing Toulouse in the French Super Cup on January 3, and the return to Ligue 1 against Lens on January 7.
Kang will miss a total of four Ligue 1 matches, including the aforementioned Lens game and matches against Brest, Strasbourg, and Lille. He is expected to return just in time for PSG's Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match against Real Sociedad on February 14.
