Extended Return for Marquinhos With PSG
PSG captain Marquinhos, who has missed the last four games, won't return to the team until the end of this month, after the international break, the club announced on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old Brazilian sustained a thigh injury on February 17 during the match against Nantes and has been absent in games against Rennes, Monaco, Real Sociedad, and Reims.
He won't be available for Wednesday's French Cup quarter-final against Nice or the weekend league match against Montpellier, the club said, citing discomfort in his Achilles tendon.
Coach Luis Enrique downplayed the injury, stating it's "nothing serious" and mentioned that Marquinhos could have played against Real Sociedad, but since he wasn't fully fit, they preferred not to take any risks.
"I won't take any risks until he's a hundred percent fit, but there's nothing worrying or dangerous," he said in the press conference ahead of Wednesday's match.
The coach has two other defensive absences, Slovak Milan Sriniar and Frenchman Presnel Kimpembe, while Spanish forward Marco Asensio continues his recovery work from his injury to the right hamstring, the club stated.
