Reports: Leandro Paredes Has Already Accepted Boca Juniors’ Offer for His Return
Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes, currently at AS Roma in Italy, has reportedly reached an agreement with Boca Juniors to return starting next season, according to official club sources cited by EFE. At 30 years old, the player has expressed several times his desire to come back to the club where he grew up and made his pro debut. After flirting with moves in past transfer windows, it looks like this dream is finally about to happen.
Agreement details and release clause
Boca has confirmed that Paredes has accepted their financial offer, and the only thing left is to sort out the release clause payment with Roma to make the transfer official. In the contract extension signed in March, the midfielder included a clause that forces the Italian club to accept an offer from Boca worth 3.5 million euros if he requests it. Inside sources say Boca plans to activate that clause within the next few days or weeks.
Once his exit from Roma is finalized, Paredes, two-time Copa América winner and World Cup champion with Argentina, will sign a deal with Boca Juniors through December 2028, with options to extend until 2029 and 2030. He played 31 matches wearing the blue and gold between 2010 and 2013, scoring five goals and leaving an unforgettable mark on the club.
European career and role in the national team
After his stint with Boca, Leandro Paredes continued his career in Europe with clubs like Roma, Zenit Saint Petersburg, and Paris Saint-Germain, establishing himself as a key midfielder. He’s also been a crucial part of the Argentina squad coached by Lionel Scaloni, maintaining an important role heading into the 2026 World Cup.
