Xabi Alonso Praises Vinicius After 3-0 Win Over Real Oviedo
Real Madrid remain unbeaten in LaLiga after defeating Real Oviedo 3-0, with Kylian Mbappe scoring twice and Vinicius Junior adding the final goal in stoppage time.
Xabi Alonso delighted with his team’s dominance
Xabi Alonso described Real Madrid’s performance as “a complete and very solid display” after their 3-0 victory at the Carlos Tartiere Stadium. The Spanish coach highlighted his team’s composure and rhythm, especially during the first half, where Los Blancos controlled possession and tempo despite Oviedo’s defensive approach.
“Sometimes it was tough because Oviedo stayed compact, but the rhythm was very good,” said Alonso. “The second goal gave us tranquillity, and overall, it was a complete and very solid performance away from home, with great attitude from the team with and without the ball. I was very pleased.”
Mbappe extends scoring streak in LaLiga
With his double against Oviedo, Kylian Mbappe has now scored in seven consecutive league matches, reaching 12 goals in that stretch. His consistency continues to draw comparisons to legendary goal-scoring runs in Madrid’s history.
Vinicius Junior, who began the match on the bench amid speculation about his contract renewal, entered in the second half and contributed to two key plays, including his stoppage-time goal. “He did very well when he came on. He was decisive in both goals. I’m pleased for him. We need everyone,” added Alonso.
Squad rotation key for Madrid’s future
The coach stressed the importance of squad depth, given the demanding calendar ahead. “It depends on what we need in terms of the game, the workload and the opposition. I haven’t made a decision for the next month. My intention is that everyone contributes to the team. That’s going to be the norm.”
With 20 players available, Alonso plans to balance minutes between starters and substitutes to keep the squad sharp. “Sometimes you can have a few minutes and still be important. Today Vini was important,” concluded Alonso.
