Rodri Arrives After Dealing With a Physical Issue

The Spain international recently underwent a minor procedure to address a back problem, which affected his preparations with Manchester City.

Rodri did not feature in the Community Shield, where City suffered a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal. With his departure now approaching, the midfielder is ready to begin a new chapter of his career in Spain.

João Cancelo Is Also Heading to Catalonia

Rodri will not be the only new arrival on Monday. João Cancelo began his journey to Barcelona early in the morning and is expected to land around midday.

The Portuguese full-back teased his return on social media, writing “Back home” as he shared that he was already on the plane.

Cancelo managed to terminate his contract with Al Hilal and will join Barcelona as a free agent, meaning the Catalan club will not have to pay a transfer fee. The Saudi side had initially valued the 32-year-old at around €10 million.

Rodri and Cancelo Will Take Barcelona’s Summer Signings to Five

Rodri and Cancelo are set to become Barcelona’s fourth and fifth additions of the summer as the club continues strengthening its squad.

Karim Adeyemi has already spent several days with the team and featured in preseason friendlies, while Anthony Gordon made his first appearance for the Blaugrana against Basel.

Jesse Bisiwu is also part of Barcelona’s new-look squad. He is expected to train regularly with the first team while potentially earning minutes with Barça Atlètic.
