Lionel Messi is set to make a return to the Argentina setup following his retirement after the Copa America.

After meeting with new Argentina coach Edgardo Bauza in Barcelona yesterday, Messi asked for 24 hours to make a decision on whether to return.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo' in Barcelona, it's now understood Messi has decided and will return for Argentina in their September World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay.

Bauza will in fact name his first squad on Friday evening, set to be announced at 11pm CET.

Messi quit following Argentina's defeat to Chile in the Copa America final this summer, with differences between the player, the AFA and Argentina's fans reportedly behind the decision.
