Lee 'really eager' to get started with Atletico
Lee Kang-in completed a €40m move from Paris Saint-Germain to Atletico Madrid this summer but is yet to join his new team for pre-season.
Lee Kang-in revealed he is "really eager" to get started at Atletico Madrid, though he cannot join his team-mates for pre-season yet due to administrative issues.
The South Korea international joined Atleti on a five-year deal following a reported €40m switch from Paris Saint-Germain.
Lee won a total of 12 trophies with PSG, including three Ligue 1 titles and back-to-back Champions Leagues over the past two seasons.
He became just the second South Korean player to win the Champions League, after Park Ji-sung lifted the trophy with Manchester United.
Overall, Lee scored 16 goals and provided 16 assists in 124 appearances during his time with PSG, but he should get more regular minutes at Atleti.
Despite his start being delayed by administrative issues, Lee's excitement levels have not dropped.
"I'm very happy and excited to join this great club," he told the club media.
"I'm really looking forward to meeting my team-mates, the manager, the entire coaching staff, and the fans. I've been told they're the best in the world.
"I'm really eager and excited to get started; there are only a few days left.
"Both the club and I were very keen for me to join as soon as possible, but due to some paperwork issues here [in South Korea], it was a shame.
"But during these past few weeks, I've tried to train very hard so I can be in the best possible shape when I join the team.
"Now I belong to this team, and it's going to be something very special for me. I'm really looking forward to it. Go Atleti!"
Atleti will face Manchester City and Marseille in their final pre-season games before their LaLiga opener on August 19 against Malaga.
