Lamine Yamal Joins a “Celebrity” Driving School as He Prepares To Take the Wheel
Turning 18 is always a major milestone in any young person’s life, and Lamine Yamal is no exception. The promising FC Barcelona winger, who recently grabbed headlines for his birthday party, is back in the spotlight—this time for a more personal reason: he has started driving lessons to get his license.
What stands out most is the place he chose to do it. Instead of staying in Barcelona, he opted to travel to Cuenca, a city that has become increasingly popular among celebrities for its reputation of quickly and efficiently training new drivers. The driving school Cañada was his choice, sharing prestige with the well-known San Cristóbal, both offering intensive courses that allow students to earn a license in just 15 days.

Yamal joins a long list of celebrities like Quevedo, Lola Índigo, and actor Paco León, who also chose Cuenca for this milestone. The method is simple but intense: eight days for the theory portion and seven for the practical. The schedule is demanding—classes from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a break for lunch, and then from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., totaling 11 hours a day. It's unclear whether Yamal's tight schedule will allow for such intensity, but we may soon see him driving through the streets of Barcelona in his own car.
Rodrygo to Barça? A potential historic twist
Meanwhile, across the divide of Spain’s biggest rivalry, a potential shocker is brewing: Rodrygo Goes, a key player for Real Madrid, could follow in the footsteps of Luis Figo—but in the opposite direction. Twenty-five years after the Portuguese icon’s controversial move from Barcelona to the Bernabéu, there are now whispers that the Brazilian might cross the divide the other way.
The rumors are fueled by the upcoming arrival of Kylian Mbappé, which could push Rodrygo into a secondary role in Madrid’s attack. At the same time, Barcelona, undergoing a deep rebuild and facing logistical chaos—including a delayed pre-season trip to Japan and Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury—is rumored to be considering major market moves.
With new signings like young goalkeeper Joan García, and a squad in transition, the Catalan club is in search of a figure that can reignite belief. Could Rodrygo be the unexpected signing to flip the script of Spanish football history?
