Camp Nou and Barcelona Obtain the License to Host Matches With 62,000 Spectators
The Barcelona stadium will be able to accommodate more spectators for the upcoming matches after obtaining authorization
The license arrives for Barcelona
The Barcelona City Council has granted the first occupancy license this Wednesday so that the Spotify Camp Nou can host matches with an attendance of 62,000 spectators.
This has been confirmed by the Barcelona City Council, which has given the green light for the permit of phase 1c of the stadium's renovation located in the Les Corts neighborhood, which will increase the provisional capacity by about 17,000 spectators from the current approximately 45,000 seats.
This authorization includes the two amphitheaters of the north goal of the Spotify Camp Nou, and adds to the license already granted for phases 1a and 1b, which encompass the areas of the grandstand, side, and south goal of the first and second tiers.
It will premiere soon
In this way, the league match next Sunday, March 15, against Sevilla, the day when the elections for the presidency of the entity will also be held, will be able to increase the capacity to 62,000 spectators in a stadium that, when its works are completed, will reach 105,000 seats.
The importance of obtaining the 1c license has been one of the issues that the outgoing president of the entity and candidate for re-election, Joan Laporta, has insisted on the most in recent weeks, who had requested urgency from the council for its approval.
Nevertheless, Barcelona now has to process the 14,000 season tickets that will be available for the 'gol nord' members. On February 19, the entity confirmed that these new seats would be assigned "preferentially" to the blue and claret social mass.
With the acquisition of this permit, the opening of around 1,200 seats in the south goal for the space reserved for the fan section is also planned, which in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals was already located in one of the corners of the stadium with around 750 fans.

"Great news" for Barcelona
From Newcastle, where FC Barcelona plays the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 this Tuesday, the interim president of the entity, Rafael Yuste, has said that it is "great news" because the club will have "62,000 members supporting the team" this Sunday at the Spotify Camp Nou.
"It will also be very good because it will help ensure that this Sunday - when the club's presidential elections are held - there is more participation in the voting," he indicated.
