Álex Remiro’s name is once again gaining traction around FC Barcelona. The Real Sociedad goalkeeper has re-entered Barça’s radar, and according to recent reports, sporting director Deco has already met with his representatives to explore a potential move.

This is not the first time Barcelona have shown interest. In previous seasons, the club closely monitored the Spanish goalkeeper’s development, but the current context appears different. At 30 years old, Remiro is one of LaLiga’s most reliable goalkeepers and remains under contract with Real Sociedad until 2027, where he is an undisputed starter.

At the same time, the debate over Spain’s national team goalkeeping position continues. Head coach Luis de la Fuente recently called up four goalkeepers—Unai Simón, David Raya, Remiro, and Joan García—highlighting the fierce competition ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Joan García is a key factor in this situation. Barcelona see him as their long-term first-choice goalkeeper. Therefore, the renewed interest in Remiro is not about replacing him but rather about increasing competition and strengthening depth in the position.

 In the past, his €70 million release clause blocked any potential deal. Now, with a different contractual situation, that figure could be reduced, opening the door for negotiations.

For now, Barcelona are proceeding cautiously, but they have already made the first move. Remiro’s future is once again linked with the Catalan giants.
