Atlético de Madrid have firmly dismissed reports linking Antoine Griezmann with a move to MLS side Orlando City. The Spanish club’s hierarchy made it clear: there is no imminent exit, and the French forward remains a central figure in the project.

In recent days, multiple reports suggested the 2018 World Cup winner could leave before the transfer window closes, with some even claiming the upcoming clash against Real Sociedad would be his farewell appearance. However, sporting director Mateu Alemany categorically denied those claims following the UEFA Champions League draw.

“That issue is speculation. Antoine has two more years on his contract, he is focused on what’s ahead and his performances have been very good,” Alemany stated. He reiterated that the forward remains fully integrated into Diego Simeone’s immediate plans and that the club is counting on him for the decisive stretch of the season.

Tough test against Tottenham

Beyond transfer talk, Atlético are already preparing for a major European challenge. The Spanish side have been drawn against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League round of 16 — a tie expected to be fiercely competitive.

Alemany acknowledged the difficulty of facing a top Premier League opponent and stressed the need for focus and respect. “It’s a team of maximum level and difficulty. We must concentrate on our own performance,” he said.

Fixture congestion and backing Simeone

With Atlético competing on multiple fronts, fixture congestion has also been a topic of discussion. Reports suggest Simeone would prefer shorter gaps between knockout legs to maintain rhythm and manage squad intensity. Club officials have expressed full alignment with the coaching staff and a willingness to adapt to strategic needs.
