Oriol Romeu Leaves Barcelona and Returns to Girona
32-year-old midfielder Oriol Romeu, who belongs to Barcelona, will play on loan for a season with Girona, the club he came from after playing there during the 2022-2023 season.
Barcelona announced on their official "X" account that Romeu, who signed a three-year contract last summer, left the team's camp in Annapolis to sort out his future after playing 17 minutes in the first preseason match against Manchester City in Orlando.
During the last season with the Blaugrana, where he trained in their youth academy, he played 37 official matches, 17 of them as a starter. Regarding his previous stint at Girona, which he will now represent in the Champions League after the club qualified for the first time in its history, he played 34 official matches, always starting and scoring two goals.
Throughout his career, the midfielder has also spent two seasons at Chelsea, one at Valencia, another at Stuttgart, and seven more at Southampton.
