Lamine Yamal Makes History before Turning 17
Barcelona's forward Lamine Yamal, the scorer of the stunning goal that secured victory for his team against Mallorca (1-0) in the match that opened the 28th round of LaLiga EA Sports, is the player who has scored the most goals in the history of the competition before turning 17.
According to data from BeSoccer Pro for EFE, the Barcelona youth academy product leads this ranking with four goals scored in 28 matches. He is followed by Ansu Fati, who scored two goals in the six matches he also played for Barcelona before turning 17.
Iker Munain also scored two goals in eight matches wearing the Athletic Club shirt before reaching that age. The other two footballers who have scored in LaLiga before turning 17 are Fabrice Olinga (Málaga) and Xisco Nadal (Villarreal), both with one goal each in two and five matches, respectively.
Lamine Yamal continues to break all records of precocity, and with his starting position this Friday against the Mallorcan team, he doubles the second-placed player in the ranking of footballers with the most matches played in the history of LaLiga before turning 17.
The Barcelona striker has already accumulated 28 appearances in the competition, twice as many as Pedro Irastorza, who played 14 matches for Real Sociedad in the 1930s.
