Despite recent rumors linking FC Barcelona's interest to Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, this wouldn't be the first time the Catalan club had the Nordic player in their sights.

In 2022, before the arrival of Polish star Robert Lewandowski, Barça reportedly attempted to sign Haaland. It all started with contacts with his then-agent, Mino Raiola, who traveled to Barcelona to initiate negotiations.

Although the deal didn't materialize in the winter of 2021, sources close to the agent allegedly confirmed that Haaland had given the green light to join Barcelona in the following summer of 2022. Xavi Hernández even traveled to Germany to meet with Haaland personally and present the club's future project.

So why didn't Haaland end up at FC Barcelona?

Ultimately, due to Barcelona's financial situation at the time, the transfer for the Nordic player became unfeasible. As a result, he headed to England to join Manchester City under the management of Pep Guardiola.
