Barcelona Wanted $44 Million for Vitor Roque... Got a Firm NO
Vitor Roque's time at Barcelona was far from easy, so at just 19 years old, he will look to showcase his true potential with Real Betis, where Manuel Pellegrini is expected to give him the confidence to be a key offensive player.
After failing to impress Xavi Hernández and Hansi Flick, the Brazilian sought a place in Spain, although at one point Fiorentina showed the most interest in signing him. Raffaele Palladino’s team was looking for a striker, but Barcelona's high demands pushed them away from Serie A.
Barcelona wanted up to $44 million for Roque, which was deemed outrageous, according to Fiorentina’s Sporting Director: "We tried to sign Vítor Roque, but the conditions were impossible at that moment. Barça wanted 40 million euros for Roque, so… there was no possibility."
In the end, Fiorentina signed Moise Kean for just $14 million, a far cry from the figures Barcelona was seeking in the Catalan capital.
