Barcelona Captain Opens Up: "We Miss Everything about Messi"
The departure of Lionel Messi from Barcelona was one of the most difficult moments for the club's fans, as they not only lost their greatest legend but also a "captain and role model," as recalled by a former teammate of Messi and a current figure of the club.
"We miss everything about Messi because he's the best player in the world. He's the player who makes the difference. He does it on the field and also off it because he imposes himself, because he's a captain, and because he's a role model," Ronald Araújo recalled to the current world champion with Argentina in a conversation with Andrés Agulla and Fernando Palomo, in dialogue with "Papartido."
On the other hand, the 24-year-old defender also remembered his compatriot and former teammate Luis Suárez, "Messi was very important to me. He and Luis (Suárez) welcomed me very well in the dressing room. When you arrive in a dressing room like Barcelona's, where all the stars you used to play with on the Playstation are suddenly there, you get a little scared."
After Xavi's surprising announcement that he will leave the club at the end of the season and the bittersweet moment the Barcelona fans are going through, all that remains is to remember those moments when Messi thrilled week after week at the Camp Nou, just as Araújo did.
