Ancelotti Accuses Xavi of 'Lowering' to a Level 'Unfit for Professionals
Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian coach of Real Madrid, responded briefly but sharply to Xavi Hernandez's statements, who claimed that LaLiga is "completely adulterated" and that "only a blind person doesn't see it," stating that the Barcelona coach is "lowering himself to a level that is not for professionals."
"I think I am a professional, and as a professional, I don't want to lower myself to this level out of respect for Spanish football. Don't ask me more about this because I don't want to lower myself to a level that is not for professionals," Ancelotti said when asked about Xavi's statement from Friday.
He responded in the same manner to accusations from Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta. "I don't lower myself to this level," he insisted when asked a second question from the media about the recent statements from Barcelona.
Ancelotti, who had a good relationship with Xavi, was very disappointed by the Catalan coach's comments after the Real Madrid-Almeria match and the decisions made by the referee of the match based on VAR interventions.
