Milan Choose Amorim To Lead a New Era
AC Milan have appointed Portuguese coach Rúben Amorim on a contract until 2029 as the club looks to rebuild and return to the top of European football.
AC Milan have officially announced the appointment of Rúben Amorim as their new head coach through 2029, launching a new sporting project following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri.
Several names had been linked with the position in recent weeks, including Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner, Ralf Rangnick and Arne Slot, but Milan ultimately chose Amorim to spearhead their rebuilding process.
The Portuguese manager arrives after a difficult spell with Manchester United, where he recorded 25 wins in 63 matches before being dismissed in January. Nevertheless, his successful tenure at Sporting CP remains highly regarded across Europe.
Club owner Gerry Cardinale praised Amorim as one of the most innovative coaches of the new generation, highlighting his tactical intelligence, possession-based philosophy and aggressive pressing style.
Milan believe both club and coach are meeting at the perfect moment to grow together. Although the Rossoneri will compete in the Europa League next season, they spent much of the previous campaign among the top teams in Serie A and remained in the top four for 34 matchdays.
"Coaching Milan has always been one of my ambitions," Amorim said after signing. The Portuguese manager emphasized his admiration for the club's history, prestige and worldwide fan base, expressing excitement about the challenge of guiding one of football's most iconic institutions into a new chapter.
