Mbappé Joins the 100 Club and Chases World Cup History
Kylian Mbappé reached 100 appearances for France and continues to build his World Cup legacy. With 16 World Cup goals and several records already to his name, the French star is now chasing a place as the tournament’s all-time leading scorer.
At just 27 years old, Kylian Mbappé reached another major milestone in his career by making his 100th appearance for France. The French captain celebrated the occasion with a brace against Iraq at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further strengthening his reputation as one of the tournament’s greatest performers.
Mbappé became only the tenth French player to reach the century mark in international appearances, joining an exclusive group that includes Hugo Lloris, Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry, and Didier Deschamps.
His impact, however, extends far beyond appearances. The Paris-born forward recently became France’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Olivier Giroud and continuing to add to his remarkable tally. Reaching 60 international goals in just 100 matches highlights his extraordinary efficiency in front of goal.
On the World Cup stage, Mbappé is writing his own chapter in football history. With 16 goals in 16 World Cup matches, he has already matched Miroslav Klose’s legendary scoring record and now sits only two goals away from the all-time tournament mark.
His World Cup résumé already includes a title in 2018, a runner-up finish in 2022, and another strong campaign in 2026. Considering his age, Mbappé could still participate in one or even two additional World Cups, giving him the opportunity to establish records that may stand for generations.
Mbappé’s journey with France has already become historic. The only remaining question is how far his World Cup legacy can ultimately go.
