Geoff Hurst corona a Harry Kane como el mejor delantero en la historia de Inglaterra
England legend Sir Geoff Hurst believes Harry Kane has become the greatest striker in the nation's history, praising the captain's goalscoring record and leadership ahead of the World Cup semifinal against Argentina.
England legend Sir Geoff Hurst has delivered the ultimate endorsement of Harry Kane ahead of the Three Lions' World Cup semifinal against Argentina, describing the Bayern Munich striker as the greatest forward England has ever produced.
Hurst, who famously scored a hat trick in the 1966 World Cup final, believes Kane's remarkable achievements have elevated him above every striker who came before him. The England captain has strengthened his legacy during the 2026 tournament by extending his scoring records and becoming the national team's most-capped captain, surpassing Bobby Moore.
Speaking through England's official channels, Hurst praised Kane's consistency and ability to deliver on the biggest stages.
"It will be very difficult for anyone to beat the number of goals he has scored, so I'd say he's England's greatest," Hurst said. "His record is simply incredible, not only because of the goals but because he's producing them in the biggest matches."
Hurst also highlighted Kane's leadership qualities, comparing him directly with legendary 1966 captain Bobby Moore. According to the World Cup winner, Kane leads by example through both his performances and his conduct away from the pitch, setting the standard for Gareth Southgate's successors under Thomas Tuchel.
The former West Ham striker also expressed confidence in Tuchel's project despite the historical fact that no foreign coach has ever guided a nation to World Cup glory. Hurst believes the German manager's tactical preparation and the unity within the squad could help England rewrite history.
He also welcomed Jude Bellingham's confident personality after the Real Madrid midfielder jokingly dismissed criticism following the quarterfinal victory over Norway, saying that competitive edge is exactly what England needs as it prepares for another high-stakes clash with Argentina.
