Cristiano Ronaldo’s Injury More Serious Than Expected as Concerns Grow Months Before the 2026 World Cup
A new injury has raised concerns around Cristiano Ronaldo. With the World Cup approaching, the Portuguese star faces an uncertain moment.
The injury worrying Al-Nassr
The news surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo is far from encouraging. The Portuguese forward suffered a hamstring injury during Al-Nassr’s match against Al-Fayha, forcing him to begin a recovery process that will now continue in Madrid.
The update was confirmed by his coach, Jorge Jesus, who revealed that the injury turned out to be more serious than initially expected.
“Cristiano’s injury is more serious than we first thought,” the Portuguese manager admitted. According to him, the forward has already traveled to Spain to continue treatment with a personal therapist, something that has become common practice for elite players.
Ronaldo travels to Madrid for treatment
According to Jorge Jesus, Cristiano Ronaldo will undergo specialized treatment in Madrid as part of his rehabilitation process.
“He will travel to Spain to receive treatment with a personal therapist, as many players do. We hope he returns soon and can help the team,” explained the Al-Nassr coach.
The goal is for Ronaldo to return to action as quickly as possible, especially as he continues chasing one of the most ambitious milestones of his career: reaching 1,000 official career goals.
The official medical report
Al-Nassr also issued an official medical update regarding the situation of their star player.
“Cristiano Ronaldo has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury sustained during the match against Al-Fayha. He has begun a rehabilitation program and will be evaluated on a daily basis,” the Saudi club stated.
For now, Ronaldo is certain to miss the upcoming match against Neom, while the exact timeline for his return remains unclear.
Could the 2026 World Cup be at risk?
The biggest concern now revolves around the 2026 World Cup, a tournament that Cristiano Ronaldo has clearly marked as one of the final major goals of his legendary career.
Recovery time for a hamstring injury depends on the severity. A grade 1 strain could keep a player sidelined for up to three weeks, while a grade 2 injury may require between one and two months of recovery.
The worst-case scenario would be a grade 3 tear, which involves a complete rupture and could keep a player out for up to six months.
With the 2026 World Cup set to begin in just a few months, the situation has raised concerns among fans of Portugal and throughout the football world. Ronaldo’s recovery in the coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether he can arrive at the tournament in top condition.
