2026 FIFA World Cup breaks another record, surpassing the combined attendance of Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022
The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues to make history both on and off the pitch.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues to make history both on and off the pitch.
With only four matches remaining, the tournament hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada has already surpassed the combined attendance of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
More than 6.5 million fans
According to official figures, 6,527,410 spectators have attended the first 100 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
That total exceeds the 6,436,020 fans who attended the previous two World Cups combined.
- Russia 2018: 3,031,768 spectators.
- Qatar 2022: 3,404,252 spectators.
- 2026 World Cup: 6,527,410 spectators after 100 matches.

Achieved with fewer matches
The accomplishment is even more remarkable considering the tournament reached the milestone before it has even concluded.
The attendance figure comes after just 100 matches, while Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 required all 128 combined matches (64 in each tournament) to reach their total attendance.
Four matches still to play
The 2026 FIFA World Cup still has its two semifinals, the third-place match and the final remaining.
With four more games on the schedule, the attendance record is expected to grow even further, reinforcing the global impact of the first 48-team FIFA World Cup.
