The port city of Antofagasta is located in the north of Chile, some 1,100km from Santiago, and is known as ‘La Perla del Norte’ – Pearl of the North.
STADIUM
Originally built in 1964 before being renovated for the 2015 Copa América, the grandly-titled Estadio Regional Calvo y Bascnan de Antofagasta holds over 20,000 spectators.
In 1987, the ground hosted the Under-20 World Cup match between Germany and USA with a young Andreas Müller, who went on to star at Italia 90, on target.
Deportes Antofagasta, the only professional team in the city, play their home matches at the stadium.
