Police Intervenes in Copa America Final Chaos
Just hours before the Copa America final in Miami, a disorderly group of Colombian and some Argentine fans managed to bypass security and enter Hard Rock Stadium without tickets. This forced Florida police to intervene quickly to contain the situation.
The breach caused panic among spectators waiting to enter and led organizers to temporarily close all entrances, angering those with legitimate tickets. The incidents were concentrated at the entrance designated for accredited journalists.
Outnumbered, Florida police had to reinforce security and arrested several ticketless fans within minutes. This abrupt measure left many players' family members outside the stadium, unable to enter.
After regaining control, several stadium gates were closed until authorities deemed it safe to reopen them. CONMEBOL had previously issued a statement warning about the legal consequences of violent acts inside and outside the stadiums.
"U.S. authorities can take legal action, both civil and criminal, against those who commit acts of violence in and around the stadiums," emphasized CONMEBOL, highlighting the importance of good behavior during sporting events.
