The Scenarios for the Final Matchday of the Copa Libertadores on beIN SPORTS
The final matchday of the Copa Libertadores promises pure chaos with several South American giants fighting for survival at the same time. Clubs like Boca Juniors, Palmeiras, and Fluminense still have not secured their place in the Round of 16.
The Copa Libertadores group stage is set for a dramatic conclusion. From May 26 to May 28, the sixth and final round of matches will determine the remaining eight spots in the Round of 16, with several historic clubs still under enormous pressure heading into the final week.
So far, teams such as Flamengo, Corinthians, Rosario Central, Independiente Rivadavia, Cerro Porteño, and Independiente del Valle have already secured qualification for the knockout stage. However, several major clubs still depend on results to stay alive.
One of the most delicate situations belongs to Boca Juniors, who enter the final matchday walking a dangerous line. The Argentine giants need a positive result against Universidad Católica to avoid a potential early elimination while also keeping an eye on the clash between Cruzeiro and Barcelona de Guayaquil.
Tight Groups and Giant Clubs Under Pressure
In Group A, Estudiantes de La Plata and Independiente Medellín will directly battle for the second qualification spot. Meanwhile, Group C remains completely open, with Bolívar, Fluminense, and Deportivo La Guaira all still holding mathematical chances of advancing.
The pressure is also massive for Palmeiras in Group F. Although the Brazilian side controls its own destiny to finish first, a defeat against Atlético Junior could potentially eliminate them depending on other results. Meanwhile, Sporting Cristal needs almost a miracle to survive.
Another fascinating battle appears in Group G, where Liga de Quito and Lanús continue fighting for second place behind Mirassol.
