CONMEBOL confirmed the new dates and times for the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana matches that had to be postponed after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on Monday, August 10.

The emergency initially forced the suspension of the matches scheduled to be played in Colombia this week. The South American governing body has now adjusted the calendar for both knockout ties, including changes to their return legs.

Tolima now knows when it will return to action

The first leg of the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 tie between Deportes Tolima and Independiente del Valle has been rescheduled for Tuesday, August 18 at 7:30 PM Colombia time.

The match will still be played at the Estadio Manuel Murillo Toro in Ibagué.

The return leg has also been moved and will now be played on August 25 at 7:30 PM Ecuador time, at the Estadio Banco Guayaquil in Quito.

Santa Fe and River Plate also change their plans

The Copa Sudamericana also had to adjust one of its Round of 16 ties. The clash between Independiente Santa Fe and River Plate, originally scheduled for this Wednesday in Bogotá, will now be played on August 19 at 7:30 PM Colombia time.

The venue will remain the Estadio El Campín in Bogotá.

Meanwhile, the second leg has been scheduled for August 26 at 9:30 PM Argentina time, at the Estadio Mâs Monumental in Buenos Aires.

The emergency forced football to come to a halt

The changes come after the powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake recorded on Monday, August 10, which was felt across several regions of Colombia as well as in neighboring countries.

Given the scale of the emergency, the Colombian government declared a “national disaster,” while CONMEBOL initially decided to suspend the international matches due to be played in the country before confirming the new schedule.

With the new dates now set, Tolima, Independiente del Valle, Santa Fe and River Plate know the path they must follow to settle their respective continental knockout ties.
