River Plate secured a significant away victory against Talleres de Córdoba in the first leg of the 2024 Copa Libertadores Round of 16.

In the 86th minute, after a well-placed free kick by Nacho Fernández, defender Paulo Díaz rose above the defense to head the ball into the net, giving "Los Millonarios" a decisive 1-0 lead.

Talleres de Córdoba and River Plate faced off in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores 2024 Round of 16, with River Plate securing a narrow 0-1 victory.

The game’s lone goal came in the 86th minute when Paulo Díaz headed in a crucial goal following an assist from Nacho Fernández, giving Marcelo Gallardo's side the upper hand in the tie.

Adding to their struggles, Talleres were reduced to ten men after Lucas Suárez was sent off in the 60th minute, forcing them to play a man down for over 30 minutes.

The return leg is set for August 21 at the Estadio Monumental, where River Plate will look to defend their advantage and advance to the next round.
