The Uruguayan footballer lay motionless on the field, prompting the immediate intervention of medical services, who treated him and rushed him to the hospital.

After several days of fighting for his life in the hospital, the defender passed away at 27 years of age due to "brain death following a cardiorespiratory arrest" associated with arrhythmia, according to the São Paulo hospital where he had been admitted for the past five days.

"The Israelita Albert Einstein Hospital regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Juan Manuel Izquierdo, which occurred on Tuesday, August 27, at 21:38 hours (local time), due to brain death following a cardiorespiratory arrest associated with arrhythmia," stated the final medical bulletin.

The case has shaken the entire world, and the outpouring of love towards the footballer's family, as well as Uruguayan football, has been overwhelming.
