The African Nations Championship (CHAN 2025) reaches its most thrilling stage with a semifinal worthy of being the final itself: Morocco vs. Senegal. Coach Tarik Sektioui has guided a more seasoned and tactically balanced side, relying on the scoring form of Oussama Lamlaoui, who has found the net in three straight matches, and the creativity of Youssef Mehri, the tournament’s assist leader. “Our goal is always to win the title, although we know Senegal will be a very tough opponent,” said the Moroccan manager.
Morocco, the weight of history
The numbers also favor the Moroccans. Since 2016, they have recorded five straight CHAN wins against West African opponents, with a tally of 17 goals scored and only seven conceded. In this edition, they lead the tournament in goals (9) and shots on target (29).
Senegal, however, has the freshness of a young squad playing without fear, capable of surprising anyone. Their defensive solidity will face its biggest test against Morocco’s attack, in a match where every detail could prove decisive.
A clash of styles in Kampala
This semifinal is more than just a ticket to the final. It represents two contrasting philosophies: Morocco’s structure and maturity against Senegal’s youth and fearlessness. With tens of thousands of fans expected to pack the stadium, the atmosphere promises to be electrifying.
