Two days after committing to represent Mexico at the Copa America Centenario, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez continued his fine goal-scoring form ahead of the summer showcase.
Hernandez netted the 60th-minute winner as Bayer Leverkusen came from behind to record a 3-2 win at Schalke on Saturday, making it three goals in his past four Bundesliga games.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Leroy Sane scored to give Schalke a 2-0 lead at the Veltins-Arena, but Julian Brandt, Karim Bellarabi and Hernandez found the net three times in a seven-minute span to shock the home side.
Hernandez's goal came from a tight angle as the striker collected a Benjamin Henrichs feed on the right side of the box and fired past Ralf Fahrmann. The strike brought Chicharito's season haul to 26 goals in all competitions since his summer move from Manchester United.
Leverkusen improved to 16-9-6 with the win, taking a five-point lead over Hertha Berlin for the third and final automatic Champions League group stage slot in the Bundesliga.
