Bundesliga record-breaker Kane reveals Bayern contract talks are ongoing

Harry Kane revealed talks to extend his Bayern Munich contract are in motion after he made Bundesliga history with his two goals against Union Berlin on Friday. 

Kane netted his 100th and 101st Bundesliga goals during a 7-0 thrashing of Union at the Allianz Arena, becoming the quickest player to reach a century in the competition on his 98th appearance. 

The England captain smashed Dieter Muller's previous record of 129 outings, while taking his overall Bayern tally to an incredible 152 goals in 154 appearances in all competitions. 

Jamal Musiala got the ball rolling in the 18th minute before Kane converted his record-breaking strike from the penalty spot, after Tom Rothe brought down Michael Olise in the box.

Bayern moved three goals in front just before the break through Olise, with Kane doubling up nine minutes after the restart. But Vincent Kompany's side continued to be ruthless. 

Ismael Saibari came off the bench to score his first Bundesliga goal before Olise netted twice in three minutes, which included a stunning finish in the 76th minute, to complete his hat-trick. 

Kane had been linked with a move away from Bayern this summer, but after adding more records to his name, he expressed his love for the Bundesliga champions and said talks over extending his stay in Germany were already underway. 

"Let's continue like this. Scoring more goals in games is, of course, a big step," Kane said. "Of course, there were also many important goals.

"All I can say is that I enjoy every minute of it. I'm extremely happy here. The talks are ongoing. I really appreciate the support the fans are showing me here.

"I think we'd waited for a game like that this season. We've won games and played well, but maybe not at the level of last season.

"So it was nice to show a performance like this before the international break. We didn't want a slip today before the three-week break.

"Our performance was at the highest level from start to finish. We can enjoy it now."

Bayern's victory saw them move to the top of the table, though Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg have the chance to leapfrog them, as both possess a game in hand.

After their win, Bayern have now not lost any of their 15 Bundesliga matches against Union (W10 D5) – no other team in Bundesliga history has faced an opponent as often without suffering a single defeat.

Kane was forced to share his landmark outing with the sensational Olise, though. The Frenchman registered four goal involvements in a Bundesliga match for the fourth time.

And since Opta began collecting detailed data in 2004-05, only Robert Lewandowski (six times), Miroslav Klose and Arjen Robben (both five times) have done so more often (Kane has also done so four times).

With the extended international break now upon Bayern's players, Kompany was pleased his team were able to sign off with a win before returning to action on October 10, away to Augsburg. 

"We're obviously really happy with this wonderful win. Now the fans can head to Oktoberfest! It’s a nice gift for them," Kompany added.

"You saw today how much the guys chased after every ball. Obviously, Michael scored those goals, but he's done a lot of work on those shots in training.

"Top players also need more than talent. There's a lot of hard work behind it."
