After the match against Inter Miami, Lionel Messi is back in another final — this time in the Leagues Cup, thanks to a brace that sealed qualification.
The Argentine captain spoke after the game and made a big statement: he confirmed that he will play his last official World Cup Qualifier with the Argentina National Team on Thursday, September 4, at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, in front of his home crowd.
Messi arrives at this match in exceptional form with Inter Miami: in 17 games, he has 18 goals and 10 assists, and has been named MLS Player of the Month in two of the last three months, as well as Man of the Match several times.
The Argentine superstar begins to say goodbye:
“Yes, it’s going to be special, a very special match for me because it’s the last qualifier. I don’t know if there will be friendlies or more matches after,” admitted Messi.
And he added: “That’s why my family will be with me: my wife, my children, my parents, my siblings, and everyone who can come. We’re going to experience it that way. After that, I don’t know what will happen.”
Tickets are on fire to watch Lionel Messi for the last time in a Qualifier on Argentine soil. The National Team brings together generations like few things in the country: grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren are all heading to the Monumental to live a historic day.
Messi’s confirmation of his “last official dance” in Buenos Aires sent ticket demand soaring, with prices starting at around $130 USD for the Popular Sívori or Centenario Baja — already sold out! Prices are as follows:
