Ruben Amorim got his revenge against Manchester United, but the reunion was anything but cold. The Portuguese manager led AC Milan to a 4-2 victory over his former club in a friendly played at the Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław, Poland.

Amorim’s Influence on the Rossoneri
Amorim is building an AC Milan side in his image. The Portuguese manager has overseen a major squad overhaul, leaving Christopher Nkunku, Fikayo Tomori, Youssouf Fofana and David Odogu out of his plans as he looks for players who fit his tactical philosophy.
The result against United showed a team capable of responding under pressure. Samuel Chukwueze, Alphadjo Cissé, Gonçalo Ramos and Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored Milan’s four goals as the Italian side fought back after falling behind twice.

The victory carries added significance given Ruben Amorim’s turbulent spell at Old Trafford. The Portuguese manager took charge of 63 matches, recording just 24 wins for a 38.1% win rate, before being dismissed in January 2026.
His tenure was defined by a particularly difficult campaign and by his own outspoken comments about the team’s performances. His relationship with sections of the fan base also deteriorated because of his tactical decisions and some of his public statements.
That is why the 4-2 victory in Wrocław carries a special meaning for Amorim. The greetings from his former players and some United supporters showed that the relationship did not end entirely on bad terms, but the scoreline was the response the manager needed against the club that ultimately decided to dismiss him.
