The new European season presents Ecuador with a scenario that could change everything
Following La Tri’s participation in the 2026 World Cup, several of its leading figures returned to the continent with new objectives and the opportunity to compete once again for the most important titles.
Although some players could still change clubs before the transfer window closes, the current outlook places Moisés Caicedo, Piero Hincapié and Willian Pacho among Ecuador’s leading representatives in European football’s elite.
England draws much of the attention
The Premier League will once again be one of the main stages for Ecuadorian players, starting with Moisés Caicedo, who will begin another campaign with Chelsea.
Alongside him, although in north London, will be Piero Hincapié. The defender was signed permanently by Arsenal after spending the previous season on loan and will begin the new campaign as a defending Premier League champion.
An established figure in France
In Ligue 1, Willian Pacho will continue wearing the Paris Saint-Germain shirt, having established himself as one of the Ecuadorian footballers with the greatest international prominence.
Pacho will enter the new season as one of Ecuador’s most recognizable names in Europe, with the opportunity to continue gaining experience in continental competitions.
Ecuador looks to strengthen its international presence
Competing every week in leagues such as the Premier League and Ligue 1 will allow La Tri’s leading figures to continue facing top-level opponents and arrive at their upcoming international commitments with greater experience.
Caicedo, Hincapié and Pacho will begin the campaign as the main reference points, but attention will also be focused on a new generation looking to make its mark abroad.
The 2026-27 season could represent another important step toward consolidating Ecuadorian footballers among the world’s elite.
