Sergio Ramos Turns to Music With Song Dedicated to Real Madrid
Former Real Madrid captain and current Monterrey defender Sergio Ramos has surprised fans by releasing a new track titled Cibeles. The song, loaded with nostalgia and subtle digs at club president Florentino Pérez, has sparked headlines in Spain for what it reveals about his departure from the Bernabéu in 2021.
Why Did Ramos Decide to Release Music?
According to Cristóbal Soria, former Sevilla delegate and current TV pundit on Espejo Público (Antena 3), the decision to step into music has both financial and artistic motives:
"He needs income, he’s short on money to make it to the end of the month. And he’s also doing it for the concerts," Soria joked.
But beyond the banter, Soria revealed Ramos has taken the project very seriously:
"Sergio Ramos has recorded a full album, this is just one track… I’ve listened to one of the songs and it’s so well done we were rolling around the set. He’s recorded with global music stars."
What Does the Song Say About His Real Madrid Exit?
In Cibeles, Ramos reflects on the pain of how his farewell unfolded after 16 seasons and 22 trophies, including four Champions League titles:
"You forgot about me, you left me aside. Without being able to decide, that’s what hurts the most... I killed for you, I loved you and defended you. But it wasn’t up to me, you asked me to fly."
The lyrics have been interpreted as a clear reference to the breakdown in negotiations that led to his departure from the club he once called home.

Who Could Ramos Be Collaborating With?
Reports suggest Ramos has already worked with international heavyweights such as J Balvin and Maluma, two of the biggest names in the Latin urban music scene. If confirmed, it would represent a bold and unexpected new chapter in the ex-Real Madrid captain’s career.
