Tigres UANL scraped into the Champions Cup semi-finals on away goals despite a 3-1 defeat to the Seattle Sounders.

Leading 2-0 from last week's first leg, Tigres were pegged back to a 3-3 draw on aggregate.

However, Joaquim's 31st-minute header proved decisive, as Seattle fell short of a comeback.

The Sounders went ahead through Albert Rusnak in the 11th minute, only for Tigres to haul themselves level and go into a 3-1 aggregate lead.

Yet Danny Musovski's goal early in the second half, followed by Rusnak completing his double in the 82nd minute, set up a grandstand finale. Tigres, though, held on.

They will be joined in the last four by fellow Liga MX team Toluca, who beat the LA Galaxy 3-0 to seal a 7-2 aggregate success.

Having scored a hat-trick in the first leg, Portugal international Paulinho was at the double on Wednesday, with his goals coming after Jesus Gallardo had put Toluca ahead early on.

Los Angeles FC had better luck on Tuesday, as they drew 1-1 with Cruz Azul to progress 4-1 on aggregate.

Hany Mukhtar, meanwhile, sealed a memorable victory for Nashville SC. They beat Mexican giants Club America 1-0.

Data Debrief: Seattle fall just short

The Sounders certainly went for it, having 20 shots and accumulating chances worth 1.91 expected goals to Tigres' 0.65 xG, but it was not enough.

Rusnak was in inspired form. He led Seattle for shots (five), with those chances worth 0.43 xG.

There was no glory for the Galaxy, either, though their captain Maya Yoshida did reach a landmark. The defender made his 100th appearance for the club across all competitions.
