A message from Madrid amid the tragedy

Real Madrid joined the international expressions of solidarity following the powerful earthquake that struck Colombia on Monday, August 10.

Through an official statement, the Spanish club, led by its president and Board of Directors, expressed its support for those affected by the disaster and for the Colombian people during one of the most difficult moments the country is facing.

The Spanish club's message came after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck a wide area of Colombia on Monday morning.

According to information from the Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported by EFE, the earthquake caused damage in different parts of the country, including cities such as Manizales, Cali and Pereira. The magnitude had initially been estimated at 6.7 before being updated to 7.4.

As emergency operations and damage assessments continue, messages of solidarity have begun to arrive from different parts of the world.

Real Madrid's statement once again goes beyond sport, placing the club among the institutions that have sought to stand with the Colombian people following the tragedy.

Through its statement, the Madrid club expressed its support for both the families who lost loved ones and those who continue to face the consequences of the earthquake.
