Lionel Messi and the medal Cristiano Ronaldo will never have
Despite being on vacation, the World Cup champion and Inter Miami star continues to receive recognition.
Lionel Messi is currently enjoying his holidays in Argentina, but that has not stopped him from adding another distinction to his legendary résumé. This time, the Argentine received a medal that Cristiano Ronaldo will never be able to claim, further expanding the list of honors for the Rosario native.
Messi receives a medal while on vacation
The Argentina national team captain has been back in the country since late December and, in the midst of his break, was awarded a commemorative medal as part of the Tricentennial of Rosario.
The recognition is reserved for notable figures born in the city and is crafted by members of the Rosario Numismatic Circle. Its purpose is to honor individuals who represent Rosario at both a local and international level.

“The medal the best player in the world was missing. Leo now has the Tricentennial medal in his hands. Thank you for always coming back to the city that loves you. Thank you for being part of Rosario’s history,”
the city wrote on its official social media accounts.
What Messi has been doing during his vacation
The former Barcelona star traveled to Argentina to spend the holidays with his closest circle. As usual, Messi has avoided public events, choosing instead to focus on family time.
Among his activities, he was seen meeting with Maxi Rodríguez, a former Argentina international and a historic figure at Newell’s Old Boys.
