Globe Soccer Awards 2025: Barcelona shine as Dembélé claims top honor
The annual gala once again brought together football’s biggest names, delivering a night filled with awards, emotion and standout performances.
Dubai, the global hub of football
On Sunday, December 28, the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards took center stage, continuing a tradition that has honored football’s elite since 2010. Organized by the Dubai Sports Council, the ceremony was once again held in the United Arab Emirates, reinforcing its status as a fixture on the global football calendar.
Throughout the night, awards were presented for Men’s Player of the Year, Women’s Player of the Year, Club of the Year, Coach of the Year, along with a wide range of individual honors covering every aspect of the game.
Barcelona set the tone from LaLiga
The evening opened with awards linked to LaLiga, where Barcelona were firmly in the spotlight. The Catalan club was named Best LaLiga Club, while Hansi Flick received the award for Best Coach.
Individual recognition followed, with Jan Oblak honored as Best Goalkeeper, Raphinha crowned Best LaLiga Player, and Lamine Yamal named Best U-23 Player, underlining Barcelona’s strong presence in the domestic categories.
Dembélé, the world’s best in 2025
The night’s most prestigious prize, Men’s Player of the Year at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards, went to Ousmane Dembélé. The forward edged out elite contenders such as Kylian Mbappé, Raphinha, Vitinha and Lamine Yamal.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo was recognized as Middle East Player of the Year, further cementing his sporting and cultural impact in the region.
Aitana Bonmatí leads the women’s game
In the women’s category, Aitana Bonmatí was named Women’s Player of the Year at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards. The Spanish star topped a highly competitive shortlist featuring Mariona Caldentey, Melchie Dumornay, Alexia Putellas and Alessia Russo.
The award capped an outstanding year for Bonmatí, who once again stood out among the leading figures in women’s football.
A night of emotion and tributes
One of the most moving moments of the ceremony came with a special tribute to Diogo Jota. In an emotional atmosphere, the parents of André and Diogo Jota received the honor, creating one of the most poignant scenes of the night.
