France prepares an announcement that will mark the beginning of a new era after the 2026 World Cup
The French Football Federation has called a press conference where it will reveal Didier Deschamps’ successor. Although the organization declined to disclose his identity, all eyes are on a candidate who has been waiting years for this opportunity.
France prepares to unveil its new head coach
The France national team is about to begin a new era after concluding its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and bringing one of the most important chapters in its recent history to an end.
The French Football Federation confirmed that it will hold a press conference to present the next head coach of Les Bleus, although it has decided to keep the identity of the chosen candidate secret.
A date marked on the calendar
The event will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the headquarters of the French Football Federation.
An extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee will be held before the presentation. Afterwards, Federation president Philippe Diallo will address the media to officially announce the new person in charge of the French national team.
The announcement attracted attention because the statement only refers to the “next head coach of the France national team,” without revealing his name or providing further details about the agreement.
France closes the Didier Deschamps chapter
The new head coach will replace Didier Deschamps, who had been in charge of France since 2012 and built one of the most successful eras in the national team’s history.
During his tenure, Deschamps led Les Bleus to victory at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and remained in charge until the end of the 2026 World Cup, a tournament in which France finished in fourth place.
The leading candidate for the position
Although the Federation has not confirmed any name, Zinedine Zidane appears to be the leading candidate to take over the position.
The former Real Madrid head coach has been away from the sidelines for several years since the end of his second spell with the Spanish club in 2021. During that time, he never hid the fact that one of his biggest professional ambitions was to someday manage his country’s national team.
Zidane could therefore follow in the footsteps of former teammates such as Laurent Blanc and Didier Deschamps, who also went from representing France on the field to leading the national team from the sidelines.
The mystery that is about to be solved
The French Football Federation has decided to maintain the mystery until the press conference, meaning the identity of the new head coach will only become official once Philippe Diallo makes the announcement.
France has already set the date for the beginning of its new project. Now, it only remains to be seen whether the leading candidate will ultimately be chosen to take charge of Les Bleus.
